Why I became a doula
Let me tell you a little about myself and how I became involved in birth work. I have a background in psychology and have always loved working with people. One of my favourite aspects of doula work – and life in general – is meeting new people and hearing their stories.
As a doula, I am part of one of the most important times in your life, and it is a privilege to share in your story.
My own experience with midwifery care during my second pregnancy created a passion for spreading the word about informed, empowered birth. Being a certified doula has become the perfect outlet for me, allowing me to combine both my love of working with people and improving birth.

My Training & Background as a Certified Doula
I am a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan (B.A. Honours) with a degree in psychology. I was DONA trained and started attending births in 2011. I became certified in 2012 and am an active DONA member and a workshop junkie! Reading and taking online courses keeps me up to date on the latest in evidence based care. I love sharing resources and new ideas with my clients. I am a professional member of Evidence Based Birth.
A bit more about me…
I have lived in Cold Lake, with a four year stop in Belgium, since 1990. I am married to Scott, who understands and supports my work. Together we have four children. Each of their births taught me a unique lesson: strength, patience, trust and compassion. I strive to bring that perspective to my work with women. When I am not driving to a birth in the middle of the night, I can be found in my garden, at the yoga studio or knitting by a wood stove.
